The
Central Islip Psychiatric Center shut its doors in 1996
and all the remaining patients were either discharged or
moved to Pilgrim State. Some of the remaining buildings
were converted for use as a university while others were
torn down to make way for suburban sprawl. However quite
a few managed to slip under the radar thus far and remain
abandoned. This site will show pictures of these abandoned
gems as well as document the this former state hospital. |
