This sprawling beautiful
area was once the Conklin estate, named after the lady of the estate.
The land is now used as a catholic seminary. The mansion burnt down
in the 90s but a corner entrance is still standing as well as a
garden wall with steps leading to the mansion. Going down the hill
from the mansion is a small stone structure that looks like a place
you would find a druid. In fact rumor has it that the stones were
imported from various mysterious places, including Stone Henge.
Adjacent to the stone structure is the former open air amphitheater.
Built during W.W.I it was host to many performances and even had
a movie filmed there. It is all made of stones and steps carved
into the contour of the land. There is a stone bridge that goes
over a moat to the stage. Other remnants left include the former
carriage house with a decorative clock tower. |
