When this store was built, as Gertz's department store, it was cheered and celebrated by people in this neighborhood because it was the only department store nearby.

It had a bridge over Manor Lane to connect it to the stores across the street, which was later the enclosed Gardiner Manor Mall. This was an awesome mall as it had all these really unique shops and a small town atmosphere where everyone kind of knew each other.

Gertz later became Sterns and in its final months became Macy's. The mall is long gone but this abandoned department store remains for now.

Where can I find the history behind the Stern's department store?
I use to love shoppin their with my mom and grandmother. Use to get at the lunchenette inside woolworths or newberrys cant remember. also their was a chuckie e cheese or sum type of pizza joint with a mouse. It was great times in the early 80's!
The evil spirits cannot spell lol
It's a Lowes now, I remember my brother and I used to play on the connecting bridge all the time
It's not there anymore, now there's a Lowes and a Barnes and Noble on the other side of Manor Lane. My brother and I would cross the bridge all the time just for fun
