Many of you might remember going to the Bay Shore roller rink as a child. Perhaps you even had a birthday celebration there. Back in the 1970s, they had live organ music to skate by. The 1980s ushered in a DJ to replace the organ, and shortly after the new millennium, the place was closed for good. Now in abandonment, its memory lives on. RIP

My mother stephanie use to play the organ there somewhere in the mid 70's to early 80's.. I only been there a handfull of times. I still have a tape of organ music she made while playing there..
This was my Grand Fathers Rink. Wally Kiefer from Smith Town. I was there only once as we lived out in Salt Lake City. I think I was 12 then. (65 now). His wife Bobbie, played the organ for live music. Sad to hear it's gone for good now.
I did have my 8th birthday there in the 70's and remember the organ music.
MEET MY WIFE AT THE RINK
Wow. This brings back memories. I remember the first time I held the hand of a girl as she helped me learn to skate here on a school trip. The nearby farmer's market was also an important part of my childhood. I remember my father buying me a hot dog there. I can still taste the onions and mustard.

I bowl right next door..unfortunately it was torn down and replaced with a Lucille Roberts Gym. This happened within the last few years. It's a shame because I went there a lot as a kid
