Does anybody have comments/memories of the above cemetery? I know online there's "find-a-grave" & the book, "North Fork Cemeteries"
In the mid 60's the cemetery was located in an over grown vacant lot that started near the corner of 5th and Roanoke Ave., and it ran diagonally thru the back fences of the houses on 5th Street.. The head stones had weeds & broken tree branches on them. People used to use the vacant lot as a short cut. At night it was pretty spooky...like a gothic novel.
Today, the vacant lot is gone. It appears that the houses expanded their back fence line, & St. John's takes care of the grounds of the cemetery. Any comments/memories would be appreciated. Thanks |
